Can’t select a project group when starting to track. No option to quit the app!
Can’t select a project group when starting to track. No option to quit the app!
This app is basic and stress free time keeping. However, I can not view my hours for the week correctly. The app only logs Sunday through Saturday. It needs an option to pick the week start day
My main time tracking app now. The proactive prompting is the only way I’ve managed to track my time regularly. Upgraded to Sequoia and had an issue with my iCloud not loading my data. Contacted support and got reply with solution super quick and felt compelled to write review. Big fan of this app!
I work multiple "from home" jobs, and Daily takes all of the work out accurately tracking my time. It is by far the least intrusive, easiest to use computer time tracking app I've found out of probably a dozen or more that I've tried. iOS version isn't as automatic, but that's to be expected given the nature of iOS. Still awesome to be able to log time on the go!
I recently took a job that requires me to track hours on different projects. This app makes it a breeze - down to the minute. Maybe the best part - it makes invoicing really easy, as I can export figures to a spreadsheet with whatever date range i want. I produce a report each month showing how much time was spent on each project. Exactly what I need.
I downloaded this app to keep me organized but as soon as it did, it opened a browser to X.com or whatever twitter is called now.
This has been a game changer when it comes to logging my hours for the day. It lets me create sections and subsections, prompts me to input what I’m working on every X amount of time (I can tell it how often to ask me), and if I don’t respond to the prompt it just automatically attributes the time towards the last logged item, which is usually the case! It’s amazing. The only thing I wish it had, was to show me the time a task started/ended. If it had that one additional feature, this would be a no brainer 5 star app.
I have been using Daily for 5 years and it has been a time saver! With all the various projects I have going on I have to keep track of the time for each of them. Daily asks me what I'm working on enough that I feel I am tracking time to the minute. I love that I can see the hours I have spent on each project over time in months, weeks, and even years. I look forward to the feature for my iPad so I can track there also. Thanks Daily! You have made life easier!
This is the only time-tracking app that's ever worked for me long-term, and its granular task sampling has improved the accuracy of my reports (and consequently the volume of hours I'm able to bill for). The support from the dev team I've recieved has also been top notch!
The reports are useless, which is the only reason I'm considering buying this. I've tried half a dozen different methods to extract the information I need, but none have worked. Why bother? Is the app simple to use? Yes, it is straightforward, and once you decide how to set up your groupings, you can make it even easier. But what's the point if you can't retrieve your data to showcase your work? I'm so disappointed.
This is a fantastic app! I went though a few different time tracking apps before I found Daily. Some of them had excellent automated data capture, but I found myself needing to go through that data in order to understand what the timing was, and that was not ideal. Niels' app is sweet and to the point. Does the job without extra fluff. If you're generally using dark mode, I recommend setting Daily to light (there's an app called Gray which is great for doing that), so that the contrast is clear enough to see it when it pops up.
It's easy to use with more features under the hood than I'd expected.
this tracker definitely works great for me. instead of my usual distracted process of maybe logging into my time tracker, this one just quietly pings me and asks what i'm doing. nothing intrusive and easy to set up. i'd like to see an option to put a note in an entry that would show up in the report if i wanted. that way if i have a general topic i'm tracking i can add details if i want, or not.,. at any rate GREAT app.
Allows me to track time in background with minimal effort. I can export weekly to submit timesheet. Its poerfect for what I need
Bait and switch with the FREE price. Once downloaded, an intrusive popup comes up every 20 minutes asking what project I'm working on.
This is the only app out there (for Apple devices only) that automatically tracks your hours by a small pop up window that asks what you're doing. Simple, super easy, exportable, customizable to suit your needs and now on iOS. Windows folks go to their website to lobby for a windows version -- you're missing out!
Love it. It's discrete, mindful, and doesn't interrupt flow much. UX feels like tracking in broad strokes -- honestly all that's necessary to be mindfully on task for most people and jobs. Though likely more for people with spreadsheet or technical experience, exporting the data with multiple formats is flexible enough for any user migrating from a different tool/platform too.
I’ve been using this app on Mac for a while now and it’s a wonderful time tracker. The concept is so simple, but so powerful. Loving the companion iPhone app and really looking forward to having automatic time tracking notifications on iPhone in the future. Keep it up, great work!
I'm a freelancer who spends time bouncing between different projects for different clients throughout the day. I LOVE this simple app. I used to spend so much time back-logging hours or looking for sticky notes where I scribbled to keep track of my time. This app makes it super easy to track my work throughout the day and export my hours at the end of the week. 100% worth the subscription. It would be cool to eventually have a feature that shows a calendar view of the month to visualize the days and see the hours in a summary format. For now, it solves exactly what I was looking for.
I’ve always had issues remembering what I got done in a day and having any idea of how long things actually take me. Remembering to track hours has been an on and off again adventure for me. I’ve been using Daily for about a year now and it’s the first time I’ve ever been able to routinely monitor my productivity. I can’t say I don’t sometimes ignore it, but that’s on me. Love the simplicity of the app, and the ability to add and adjust tasks to meet my needs and organizational style.
Hello - how do I cancel the trial? It automatically signed me up and I can’t see how to cancel before trial is up. I do not want to get charged $30 for this! Thank you for any assistance.
I love the reminder pop-ups. it regularly asks what i'm doing. it even asks "what have you been doing for the last XX minutes" when I don't respond. I'd give it 5 stars if it showed activity on a simple timeline and let me adjust the blocks. An accumulated amount of time in a day is not an intuitive-enough accounting system. a list of time-of-day and duration would be much more helpful in accounting for the day's activities.
I have been a long time user of Daily. As a consultant keeping track of time of each of several projects I work on used to be challenging. I like that this app periodically prompts me to record what I am working on and allows me to provide a detailed topic to aid billing. Highly recommend the app for those who need to have an accurate record of time utilization.
It's easy and automatic- useful data for when I go to hire an assistant- I will know where theyshould spending their time so I can do what I do best- my actual job
I've tried a lot of time trackers, but have stayed with this one. The ability to easily correct previous entries is absolutely key for me. My only suggestion, for those of us with several monitors, is to have an option to move the "What are you doing now" window to a corner of one monitor and stick it there, so I have the option of not responding to it immediately. Other than that, it is a lovely tool for my workflow. UPDATE: 6 months in, and I'm still using Daily on a -- well, daily basis. A very important part of my workflow.
Daily is now one of my favorite tools, as a programmer I have to keep track of my time with my clients. But now I use daily to keep track of a great many other things!
Daily always asks me what I'm doing. Quick to click and record ALL of your time. It's perfect for tracking your time. I've had it for a couple years.
By far the best time tracking application I've used in recent years. Development has been steady and the software has improved a lot over time. I'm a huge fan.
think about it. you're trying to manage your time better. the solution to that problem is not to drop in another elaborate time tracking system that you have to keep up with. instead this app polls your activities at an interval uses that data to make a fuzzy estimate of how much time you spend on different things that you can easily look back on. for me, the following would make a 5 star experience apple watch integration so I can take polls at a glance. this is pretty important for me, would let me expand my usage of the app to the gym, groceries, errands, recreation, time with friends (lol). taking out my phone to answer a poll is not something I want to do regularly. richer data visualizations, for instance: what did my day look like? , trends reporting : how is my time usage changing over the past few days, etc. right now all you really know is activity:time for a given day. it's pretty barebones
Helps me track my time for reporting very easily, I've got it scheduled to pop up every 30 minutes or so, I punch in what Im doing (or pick from my latest activities) and move on with my day. Used to do a lot of headscratching trying to remember what I'd done the previous week, now I just export the excel doc, punch it in and I'm done!
This is a true life saver every day. I went from struggling to log my time across multiple projects and tasks to doing it with ease. The new IOS integration was something I wished for and since that has rolled out this is the perfect solution.
Daily has enabled me to become a diligent time tracker. Nothing else has ever worked. Daily flips the script and PROMPTS you to tell it what you're doing. I don't have to remember to do anything, I just react to the prompt, type or select my update, and hit enter. Simple! Love it.
Great Mac app with all the features I love now on iOS. Has filled a void in my workflow when my Mac is not nearby.
As an ADHD person, I've tried an infinite number of time tracking and productivity and product management apps. I've bounced around from app to app for years. This is honestly the first step. I've stuck with for 2 whole years! The automated tracking apps, like Timing and Timemator have also been really good for me however, when it comes time to do my billing and invoicing, those just takes so much longer to sift through everything. Whereas Daily is much cleaner and simpler and quicker for me. Overall, this might be may vote for app of the decade!
Okay, it can be *slightly* annoying to be asked 'what are you doing?,' but that is exactly what I need to keep track of time devoted to different contracts/projects. With other timers, I often forget to start or stop a session. The interface could use a bit more clarity, but it works.
THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED! I've used two other leading time trackers for Mac, and they both have issues that prevent me from properly tracking my time (mainly if you forget to turn them off). DAILY is great. Everything gets tracked. It did take me a bit to understand the interface, as I'm used to green / red stop and play buttons. However, once I understood the UI it's been smooth sailing! Five Stars!
With the "Daily" app, it is so easy to use and allows me to effectively recreate time logs for invoicing purposes.
I now have so much more insight to my time and where I'm spending it. I can go as far as to say this app has probably directy impacted my income.
I've tried time blocking and I've tried other time tracking processes but nothing either sticks or I feel too pulled in multiple directions through the day for it to be accurate. This has been so wildly helpful. The window pops down, I quickly select what task I'm on and click Ok. It's helped me fill out my time sheets so much more accurately and is a productivity upgrade for me.
Still having a problem with Daily not returning focus to the point at which I was working when I responded to the task question. After responding to Daily, I have to search for the point in the process or document, at which I was working. it is frustrating to have to do this and restart my train of thought in some instances.
I have adhd or something and cant remember to do stuff. This remembers for me. It's really annoying most of the time, but it's also really a lifesaver. It needs to be annoying if you know what i mean. 5 stars.
Good app If you want to easily keep track of what you are doing at your computer.
I was just about to start my free 7-day trial when a question occurred to me, and I backed out. After the seven days expired, I have been getting two different popups every time I wake up my computer, exhorting me to buy the license. Every. Time. There is no straightforward way even to quit the app, let alone uninstall it. It will not go into Trash. This may be a function of Purchasus Interruptus but I don't care what it is. It is super unfriendly. I shouldn't have to actually research how to remove an app I don't want.
I really love its minimal functionality. Helps you realize what you are doing and does not interrupt your work itself. It's a 3 out of 5 for me (i) because it is not supported in phones. You have to be in front of your computer most of the time to accurately take snapshot of what you are doing. This limits its usefulness quite a bit. (ii) The app does not sync in two different machines.
It automatically runs without being opened and because its always running, it will not let you delete the application. It says to please close the application in order to delete it and the application will not let you close out or delete it off of your computer and its driving me crazy!
The app looks free, but when you try it out it gives you a trial license for 7 days. It's hard to find what the pricing is, but it's $30/year after that. The worst part is that they don't make it easy or clear how to cancel the trial.
I have the need to track my time spent on each of my projects through the day. As Director of Customer Success I am constantly being pulled into new things or off of projects all day. The ability to customize my list, as well as the location of the controls from the menu bar allows for me to easily pivot my focus and more accuralty track my time through my day. It has also been very valuable to analyze my prior days time highlighting that I take very few breaks or lunches. working on building those times in so they do not get skipped.
App is impossible to cancel, I did the 7 day trial and it doesnt appear under subsriptions to cancel, app it self is not usefull nor intuitive.
Reviews are usually lame. Unless someone has tried everything and landed on the solution you're reviewing now. The key is stuff like this has to be right for you. If you don't like time tracking, have a hard time remembering to start, and/or stop tracking time. GET THIS APP. Once you get used to the pop-up dialog it's like living by a train tracks, you don't even hear the train. I've used this for years now and the developer is the most friendly, responsive folks I've come across. Just give it a try!
